My Top 10 iPhone Apps To Keep You Organized

Ill admit that when the iPhone first came out I thought, yay **sarcasm**, ANOTHER phone. I truly thought this phone was not a big deal. I went to my local Cingular store and fiddled with the phone for a bit and there were things about it I was unsure of. The text messaging feature was one of my biggest gripes. You see, I was a windows based phone person. Oh did I love being able to have my phone act just like my computer with files and folders. Well, one day I bit the bullet and said OK, I’m going to get the iPhone. I purchased it and about a week later I took it back. I didn’t like the text messaging feature like I mentioned before, I thought having all these apps was just a waste of time, you couldn’t send MMS messages and overall I just wasn’t thrilled. Well then a friend got his iPhone and he loved it. He started showing me this app, and that app and I started to get jealous. I thought, I want to be able to do those things. I absolutely love my windows based phone but I want cool apps. So I went for round 2 and I have not gone back since. I think the iPhone is awesome primarily for all the applications that is has. I am big about being organized and never thought that an iPhone app would help me stay organized on the go with my personal and business life. I have found a lot of great applications on the phone that make my life a lot more organized and have saved me a lot of time and I am here to tell you about these apps. I hope they help you as much as they have helped me. These are in no particular order as they have all been truly beneficial for me.

Around Me – FREE: This application has saved me a lot of time and gas plus its free. This application helps you quickly identify all the businesses that are around you or you can do a search for a specific business and it will show you the closest locations. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve needed to find a gas station, bank or a quick bite to eat in a city I have no familiarity with. I can pull up my Around Me application and I can locate the nearest banks, coffee shop, bars, hospitals, hotels, restaurants and more. Not only is this helpful for where I’m currently at, but if I know I am going somewhere, say for an overnight stay, I can do a search by that zip code ahead of time and It will let me know what businesses are in that area.

FMC (Free Menstrual Calendar) – FREE: Ladies, this one is for you. I love this app because honestly I hate tracking my menstrual cycle. I have never done it prior to this app because it was more of a hassle than it was worth. I didn’t want to write my info on a calendar for the world to see and it also meant that I had to REMEMBER to write it on my calendar. Well I came across this application and thought I’d give it a try. It is so simple. Whether you are trying to have a baby or just need a simple way to track your cycle this application works wonders for me. It is designed to predict your menstrual cycles and possible fertile days. All you do is open up your app, double tap the day of your last period, choose the appropriate information and it will then show you the predicted start of your next period as well as your ovulation and the days you are most fertile. It is all color coordinated and easy to follow on a calendar. You can enter the days of intercourse and whether it was protected or unprotected and you can add notes to those specific days. It also gives some wonderful tips about a woman’s cycle and all the useful information you need if you are trying to get pregnant.

Remember The Milk – Free: If you are a to-list person like I am then remember the milk is a great iphone app for you. This app lets you take your to-do list with you everywhere you go. You can add and manage tasks easily as well as set due dates and locations so you can use the map feature to locate where your tasks are (ex: grocery store). You can create an infinite amount of lists and organize all of this in one application. You can list things that are due now or a week from now, find tasks that you’ve missed and it just helps you prioritize your list no matter where you are. Ooh and you can print your lists or a weekly planner to show the tasks for the week. There’s a whole lot that you can do with this application and it’s a definite organization must for the iphone.

JotNot Scanner – $4.99: If you are a business person, whether you work for someone else or work for yourself this is a great application. Often times you find yourself in need of a fax machine but one is not available. Lets say you just met with a client, they signed a document and you need to get it to your office as soon as possible but you are not near a fax machine. What do you do? Use JotNot. It turns your iphone into a mobile scanner. Take a nice clear picture of the document you want to send, crop the picture to only show what you want to send and the application then enhances the image, turns it into a document that you can now email. If you take a steady clear picture this is just as good if not better than a fax machine.

Car Minder – $1.99: Ok, truth time. I find it a complete pain in the rear to keep track of my car maintenance. More often than not I forget and if I do write it down or keep the paperwork it gets lost somewhere. Well one day I came across this iphone app, Car Minder and it is beyond worth the $1.99 because I can easily keep track of the maintenance on my car(s). I can keep track of oil changes, tire rotations, when I last changed my air filter or windshield wipers. It keeps everything in one location so if I am unsure of the last time I changed something I can quickly look it up. Or if my maintenance guy asks me a question I look like I am on top of it. If a service is due soon or Ive missed it I get a notification. It is super easy to use, very clean looking application and has a lot of great little features.

Pageonce – FREE: With technology today we have a lot of accounts. We have accounts for credit cards, various emails, movie rentals, phone bills, utility bills, investing accounts and the list goes on. Some times you need to find these accounts and can’t remember the site or maybe the login information. Well, Pageonce consolidates all those accounts into one application. It gives you a rundown of what you’ve got going on with each account. If you are worried about possibly losing your iphone and someone having access, well don’t. If you do lose your iphone you can login to their website and have all your information blocked so it’s not in the wrong hands. It really is a great way to consolidate your accounts.

Bill Tracker – $0.99: If you ever have issues remember what bills are due, when and how much this is an absolute must have app for your iphone. With this application you can keep track of information about all your bills from the cell phone to the water bill. Keep track of when it is due, how much you have to pay or whether it’s been paid or not. Have an issue with a bill? You can easily store your account numbers and contact information for each specific company. This truly is an awesome application to keep track of all your bills in the palm of your hands. Now if you are sitting at work or out and about and that sudden question “oh no, did I pay that bill?” pops in your head, now you can quickly check with Bill Tracker. There is a free version, however I think for $0.99 it is worth the money for the upgraded features of supporting reoccurring bills.

BigOven – FREE: For those of you that are big on recipes this is a great application to have. You can easily search for recipes that you are looking to make, store any favorite recipes, and if there is something you come across that you want to try soon, well, they have a Try Soon section as well. Got some leftovers? Check with the leftover wizard to see what you can make out of it. Add the three major items you’d like to use and the app will tell you what you can make. It’s the perfect application to organize all your recipes, or in my case they are mesipies, in one location as well as new ones.

iFitness – $1.99: I constantly struggle with figuring out how to do specific exercises and knowing which exercises target which muscles. I’ll read an article online or in a magazine and think, hey, I need to try that and I either lose the article or completely forget about it. With iFitness you have at the touch of your finger hundreds of exercises and routines clearly shown with pictures videos and instructions. You can organize your own workouts and select a specific routine for your level. It’s like having a personal trainer but without the big cost. It’s important to change up your routine but keeping track of your progress, what you’ve done and what you need to do next can be a pain. iFitness does it for you. It’s a must have app for anyone who works out.

Shazam – FREE: Well, I kind of went back and forth regarding this application and whether It had a place on my list but here is what I decided. This application is AWESOME and deserves a spot because it has saved me numerous post it notes and frustrations. I can’t tell you how many times I hear a song and I wonder who sings that? Or I want to remember later to buy that song or CD. Before the iPhone I used to write myself a “note” to find out what song was on the radio and these notes consisted of lyrics or the singer so I could go home and look it up later. Then this wonderful app called Shazam came along and I was free! Free of frustration. Now, if I want to know who sings a song or want to remind myself to buy a song I simply open up shazam, hold it to my speaker and the song is now listed for me in one place. I can organize the songs by date, artist, or title and I just truly love this application.

So there you have it. My top 10 list of apps I used to keep me organized, in no particular order. I hope you find them just as useful as I do and they help make your life Easy 2 Organize!! <~~~too cheesy??
