It goes without saying that kids love toys. They are a great medium of both entertainment and education. As such, parents have a tendency to get their children an abundance of toys. This can lead to clutter around the house or the play room, especially if the child has not yet learned how to clean up their toys after playing with them. Sometimes certain kids storage options can lead to costly holes in parents’ wallets, but this doesn’t always have to be the case.
Perhaps the most obvious option here is to buy a toy chest or a toy box, but as can be expected, this is not economically the wisest choice. Although, while it may be fairly expensive, once the child is older, it can double as storage for other things rather than toys. Alternatively, assuming the child is old enough to have graduated from using it, utilizing an old unused play pen as a storage container is also a smart conversion.
Toys usually come in boxes when they are purchased and most times get thrown away afterward. If the toy comes in a large sturdy packaging, do not throw the packaging away; instead, use that as a makeshift storage bin for other smaller toys. The only drawback is that the toy it initially packaged cannot be stored there any longer. Reusing packaging can also become a fun arts and crafts project for parents and their children because you can use wrapping paper and other various decorative items to decorate the boxes.
Parents have a tendency to have empty plastic containers lying around the house. These can be useful in organizing the smaller toys and other small items that may get lost or swallowed, such as crayons, play-doh, arts and craft supplies, stickers, little figures and anything else that comes to mind.

Consider purchasing a few laundry bags to use for kids toy storage. These can store anything, such as a ball that the child likes to roll around, bath toys, stuffed animals and other items. If possible, try to get clear bags or at least mesh bags so that it is convenient and easier to see what is in the bag without opening it up and digging through it.
Likewise, there is also the idea of using laundry hampers. These blend in with the house as well as your kids room and are available at any given time without taking up too much space. They are an inexpensive type of a kids storage bin and can be used for picking up any stray toys, stuffed animals or anything else that still needs a storage place to call home.
Kids storage options don’t have to be expensive or fancy. You can easily find creative and low cost solutions at the store or around your home to store toys. Home organization isn’t just about everything having a place, it’s also about being creative and reusing items that currently serve no purpose to help save you money.
I love all the valuable ideas. My fear with my kids when they were small was that the top of the toybox would somehow fall down upon their heads leaving us both screaming on the floor. Love the ideas about the see-thru mesh laundry bags as well as recycling/reusing old packaging that larger toys came in. Having toys sorted in smaller boxes also eliminates the worry of a heavy box falling upon them. Nice suggestions. Thanks.
