Having an organized home does not mean you have to give up having a stylish home as well! You can easily have both and all it boils down to is picking the right products for your home. One of my favorite home organization products are the Closetmaid Cubeicles. The closetmaid cubes are great because they are functional as well as decorative and they can be used in just about any room. You can get them in a variety of colors like white, cherry, espresso, black and alder, they’re stackable and they come in a variety of sizes such as 2, 3, 6, 7 & 9  cubes. If you want to take your organization a step further, you can buy fabric drawers separately in a variety of colors to match any room and they make storing things a breeze! Here’s a few places I like to use the Closetmaid cubeicles:

The Kids Room: one of my favorite places to put them is in the kids room. The reason I like them for the kids room is because when you buy the fabric drawers you can store a wide variety of toys, school supplies, and knick knacks and it won’t be an eye sore in the room. In fact, if you coordinate the fabric drawer colors you can have a stylish piece of kids bedroom furniture that will last for years. And, as your kids get older and their tastes change you can buy different drawer colors to match their rooms and it’s a fairly inexpensive change. It’s also easy to wipe clean so if you have young kids with messy hands you don’t have to worry about them ruining this piece of furniture.

The Entry Way: Typically when the family gets home from school or work they take off their shoes, throw their stuff on the nearest piece of furniture and then the disorganization sets in! The cubes are perfect at the entry way to store lunch pails, brief cases, wallets, keys, and cell phones. You name it and you can have a cubby hole for it. You can even designate cubby holes for each person in the family so there’s no arguing or confusion about who’s stuff goes where.

Living Room or Den: The closetmaid cubicles can be used for a variety of things in the living room or den. One of my favorite ways to use It is to organize books. I’ve had a few avid book lovers use the cubes as a way to organize all their books neatly. If you have a smaller budget it really makes for a nice looking book shelf. You can also mix and match by having some books stored in a few cubes and add a nice small plant in another or some photographs. Really makes it a nice piece of furniture for the room. You can also use it to store toys if you have children. This way your living room is kept clean and no one will ever know what’s in the drawers! Your living room looks stylish and the kids have a place to put their things.

The Closet: If you need to get your closet organized you can buy a smaller 3, 6 or closetmaid 9 cube organizer. You can use it to store shoes, purses, hats or purchase some drawers to store intimates, socks and things like that.

The Office: Office furniture can be extremely expensive and so if you are trying to get your office organized on a budget then these cubes will be a perfect solution for you! You can use them to store additional office supplies, paper, staplers, and knick knacks that you want to keep off your desk. You can also use the cubes as a nice way to decorate your office as well by adding picture and plants to give it a warmer feel.

Before you buy your closetmaid cubes, determine where they are going so you know what color to get to match your furniture and the size so that you have enough space to organize everything you need. They really are a versatile organization product that you can move from room to room. I absolutely love them!

Get A Soup Can Rack

If you are a big canned goods person then you should definitely look into getting a soup can rack. These things are awesome! They range in price from around $10 to $40 depending on the size and durability. This is at the top of my list when it comes to pantry shelves. Canned food storage can be a pain because you can only stack them so high, but with a soup can rack you can get your cans stacked in 3 or more rows. Plus, you can organize your canned goods by type such as veggies, beans, tuna, spaghetti-o’s and so on.

Get A Spice Rack

If the spice rack is going in your pantry area then you most likely don’t need anything fancy. There are tons of spice racks available so you’re going to find something that suits you. You can get a simple round spice rack that holds a good amount of spices, you can get a drawer spice organizer which can sit neatly tucked on a pantry shelf or you can install a door mounted spice rack. These typically work best if you current pantry shelving sits back a little as the door mount spice rack may bump the shelves. You could also install these on a wall if you don’t want them a part of your pantry. If you do a lot of cooking and don’t want to be in and out of your pantry id say go with a mobile spice rack or the drawer organizer so that you can bring them with you. Either way getting some sort of spice organizer will help alleviate a lot of clutter in your pantry.

Under Shelf Basket

I love under shelf baskets. How these things work is they simply hook onto the shelving that you already have and you can store items like foil, freezer bags, pasta such as spaghetti and you can use them to store goodies, like candies, and other items you want quick access too. This type of pantry shelving will also give you more space in your pantry for other items.

Install Your Own Pantry Shelving

If you aren’t renting and you’re looking to make a more permanent change to your pantry shelves, then you may want to consider installing permanent shelving. If you have a tall area that isn’t being occupied by tall items then splitting that in half with a new shelf will give you tons more room to put things. It’s cheap, it’s easy and it will last a long time.

Stacking Shelves

If you don’t own the place you’re living you can get some stacking shelves for your pantry in place of installing your own. You can purchase an adjustable shelf that you can lengthen or shorten to suit your needs and the size of your cabinet or you can buy a fixed width shelf. Again, these are perfect for larger openings of your pantry where you’re looking to get more room.

Once you’ve got the right pantry shelves for your pantry, now you can take some time to get everything organized. When you do this, be sure to check expiration dates on all your foods and toss out anything that’s expired. If you come across anything that you know you won’t use any time soon and its unopened see if you can’t donate it to a food bank.

• Use a stacking wire rack to increase space underneath the bathroom sink.  These things are not only inexpensive they’ll give you a lot more room.  You’re essentially adding another layer to your bathroom vanity and these are perfect for any vanity cabinet that lacks shelving.

• For the ladies of the house that do their hair keeping your curling iron, flat iron, hair dryer etc neatly tucked away can prove to be pain! A great way to keep them organized and out of the way is to buy a hair dryer and curling iron holder. You can buy one that is specifically designed for that, for around $7 on amazon, that’s a pretty damn good price if you ask me, or you can buy a nice looking wicker basket or a nice bathroom storage drawer to keep them in.

• For the guys, you have to shave, it’s inevitable. It’s a daily routine that creates a mess every time. Buy a simple plastic storage bin to keep all of your shaving stuff together. This stuff typically takes up a lot of room in the medicine cabinet so find one that’s long enough to fit your can of shaving cream, your electric razor, and regular razor. Even your aftershave if there is room. That way when you’re starting your day you just need to grab your plastic storage bin and you’re on your way.

• Another great bathroom organization idea is the shower caddy! We’ve all seen them but not everyone’s got one. We women have enough shampoos, conditioners, detangler, body washes, shaving cream, razors and other girly smelling stuff that can easily take up all the room in the shower. Adding a shower caddy will give you tons of extra space.

• If you have a lot of little things that don’t fit in your medicine cabinet such as your makeup, lotions, sunscreen, curlers etc get an over the door organizer to store all that extra stuff.

• If you have drawers in your bathroom cabinets, buy some drawer dividers to help keep things separated and organized. Using a drawer divider will allow you to separate his and her items or you can use them to separate loose odds and ends.

• If you need even more storage space you may consider installing a nice bathroom cabinet that you can hang on the wall or you can buy a tall bathroom linen that requires no wall installation.

Once you implement these bathroom organization ideas and you tackle your problem areas in the bathroom, the goal now is MAINTENANCE. Keep on top of it, don’t let it get out and hand and you’ll be on your way to organized bliss.

Over time my necklace collection got quite large (and a little out of hand if you ask my husband) and so I needed a way to get everything organized. I had a nice jewelry box but the problem with that is I couldn’t see everything quickly. I’d have to rummage through all my necklaces. So I went on a hunt for a nice necklace hanger so that I could display them easily and when I woke up in the morning I could quickly pick out what I wanted to wear with my outfit.

Organizing your jewelry may not be something you think about but let me tell you, once you find the right necklace storage you’ll wonder how you did without it. I love, LOVE, being able to walk up and see everything in one glance and have them organized the way I want them. I tend to group them by colors, stones, simple and more detailed. I typically have an idea of what I’m looking for with each outfit.

Here is the necklace hanger that I did get and a few other necklace hangers that I really considered. I’ll explain why I loved the one I got and why I considered the ones I didn’t.

Woodlore 82016 Jewelry Hanger So this was is the one I purchased and I love it. Not only does it have ample necklace storage, but it’s got everything else as well.  You can: Store 30 pairs of hoop earrings, 22 pairs of post earrings, charms or broaches Additional room for 26 necklaces, 10 rings and 12 bracelets or watches This has it all!  I have it hanging in my closet where I can easily see it and if i need to take it out I can do so. I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. The price is right and I had all my jewelry organized in no time! Did I mention I love it? It’s a jewelry organizer MUST HAVE in my opinion.

Umbra Teegem Jewelry Stand I liked  this necklace hanger for it’s simplicity. It has a nice tray at the bottom where you can put your rings or earings but the only reason I didn’t get it was because I just wouldn’t fit all of my necklaces. If you need something simple and don’t have a ton of necklaces then this is a great option!

Jewelry Hanger – Black This hanger appealed to me for the same reason the Woodlore Hanger appealed to me.  You could store more than necklaces but again, this was a nice hanger but it just didn’t have enough room for what i was looking for.

BelleDangles Classic This jewelry organizer came in as a close 2nd! I love this because it hangs on your wall and not only do you have a lot of necklace storage but you have a nice little shelf on top for perfumes, candles, or other knick knacks. It even has hooks for scarfs or smaller purses! The only reason I didn’t pick this one is because I liked the convenience of the hanger in the closet but it was a tough tough choice.

Household Essentials Necklace/Bracelet Organizer This jewelry organizer is great for someone who wants something simple and low key. You can hang it on a hook at the back of a door, on a wall or in a closet.  It’s easy to access everything and you can fold it up and take it with you if you want too!

The Max Acrylic Jewelry Organizer This necklace hanger will hold up to 50 necklaces, watches or bracelets! You easily mount it to a wall in your room and you’re all set. It’s clear so it will match any decor that you have in the room! It’s a clean simple necklace organizer.

For example, a friend of mine collects books for her daughter and so she wanted to display the books in her room. She wanted to be able to display and access the books so she could read them to her daughter but she wants them to remain in tact and so she installed a pink shelf and a white shelf, staggered them and placed the books on the shelves. It’s a cute decoration for her daughter’s room AND she has all the books organized. Here’s some of my favorite shelves for kids rooms that you may like. The can easily make an area look messy and disorganized.  Then you have a nice little drawer to store your wallet, keys and other little accessories.  For those who scramble around in the mornings trying to locate all the important things you need to walk out the door, this is a must have.
