Having an organized home does not mean you have to give up having a stylish home as well! You can easily have both and all it boils down to is picking the right products for your home. One of my favorite home organization products are the Closetmaid Cubeicles. The closetmaid cubes are great because they are functional as well as decorative and they can be used in just about any room. You can get them in a variety of colors like white, cherry, espresso, black and alder, they’re stackable and they come in a variety of sizes such as 2, 3, 6, 7 & 9  cubes. If you want to take your organization a step further, you can buy fabric drawers separately in a variety of colors to match any room and they make storing things a breeze! The Kids Room: one of my favorite places to put them is in the kids room. The reason I like them for the kids room is because when you buy the fabric drawers you can store a wide variety of toys, school supplies, and knick knacks and it won’t be an eye sore in the room. In fact, if you coordinate the fabric drawer colors you can have a stylish piece of kids bedroom furniture that will last for years. And, as your kids get older and their tastes change you can buy different drawer colors to match their rooms and it’s a fairly inexpensive change. It’s also easy to wipe clean so if you have young kids with messy hands you don’t have to worry about them ruining this piece of furniture.

The Entry Way: Typically when the family gets home from school or work they take off their shoes, throw their stuff on the nearest piece of furniture and then the disorganization sets in! The cubes are perfect at the entry way to store lunch pails, brief cases, wallets, keys, and cell phones. You name it and you can have a cubby hole for it. You can even designate cubby holes for each person in the family so there’s no arguing or confusion about who’s stuff goes where.

Living Room or Den: The closetmaid cubicles can be used for a variety of things in the living room or den. One of my favorite ways to use It is to organize books. I’ve had a few avid book lovers use the cubes as a way to organize all their books neatly. If you have a smaller budget it really makes for a nice looking book shelf. The Closet: If you need to get your closet organized you can buy a smaller 3, 6 or closetmaid 9 cube organizer. You can use it to store shoes, purses, hats or purchase some drawers to store intimates, socks and things like that.

The Office: Office furniture can be extremely expensive and so if you are trying to get your office organized on a budget then these cubes will be a perfect solution for you! You can use them to store additional office supplies, paper, staplers, and knick knacks that you want to keep off your desk. You can also use the cubes as a nice way to decorate your office as well by adding picture and plants to give it a warmer feel.

Before you buy your closetmaid cubes, determine where they are going so you know what color to get to match your furniture and the size so that you have enough space to organize everything you need. Unlike before when your only choice for shoe storage was turning the space under your bed into a shoe jungle, there are now a lot of stylish and functional shoe storage solutions available in the market. One of the most popular among these is the clear storage box. They are just perfect for people on the go, as you can easily see what’s inside. No need to open every box just to look for a certain pair of shoes. Another option which is not as common is the decorative boxes. They usually have designs printed on them, which makes them pretty for storing shoes that are not going to be used for the season. If you’re worried that you might need them, you can take a picture of the shoes then stick it on the box so you can easily identify what’s inside.

A favorite among women is the shoe wheel storage. Being true to its name, it’s a wheel which has a several slots to store your shoes in a vertical position. Average sized shoe wheel storage can store up to thirty pairs of shoes, enough for the average number of pairs for a lady. The great thing about this is that it has wheels underneath, which makes it a mobile shoe storage solution. You can move it anywhere in your room, perhaps near a chair or a mirror to see which shoe fits your outfit best.

Storing shoes of different sizes can be quite difficult sometimes, especially when you have limited shoe storage.  Lucky for you, an interlocking shoe rack can easily solve your problem. Most interlocking shoe storage is sold in sets, and they usually come in a set of sixteen.  This shoe storage is perfect for hallways, bedrooms and bathrooms and they are also made of impact resistant materials so you don’t have to worry if they fall down.

Another type of shoe storage that you might want to consider is the hanging type. This is great for maximizing small areas, as you just have to hang them either at the back of the closet door or inside the closet itself. When going for this type of shoe storage, remember to look for something that could be washed easily. Also look for the double-stitched type, as these are the durable ones.

If you have a nice sized area either inside your closet, against a wall or even a spare room, then a shoe cubby would be a great investment. They come in a variety of sizes and can store about 15 pairs of shoes or more.

For a more decorative and fancy look check out a shoe storage bench.  These are one of my favorite options because not only do you have a place to store your shoes that looks fantastic, but you have a place to sit as well.  Shoe storage benches come in a variety of designs, colors and materials and they are great not only for the bedroom but the living room as well.

The listed shoe storage solutions above are just some of the options available in the market. Of course you can always go for the traditional free standing shoe rack, but it won’t hurt to go for the more fashionable furniture either. There are a lot of options available out there that buying the beautiful ones doesn’t necessarily mean shelling out more cash.

The truth is you need to determine first what your needs are regarding the closet Do you want a bigger closet? Are you looking to do a complete remodel and extend the space or do you prefer to simply revamp your current closet space? Are you looking for simple additions such as a shoe and purse organizer for the closet? Is this a kids closet organizer? Once you’ve determined your overall goal, then you need to think about cost.

If budget is your issue, then stay away from customized organizers. Although they are excellent for addressing all of your closet needs, they’re very expensive. What you can do instead is buy a ready-made organizer, or make your own.

When it comes to organizers, or any furniture for that matter, what makes an item expensive is the material made for it. If you’ve noticed, an oak TV stand would cost more than a pine TV stand even though both have exactly the same design. This is because oak is stronger than pine, and that is what makes it cost more. So, for organizers, you can opt to go for a simple wire shelf, plastic or plywood. Although plywood can never be as wonderful as mahogany, it would radiate the same effect of nature—the same with any other wood. Plastic and wire shelves may be much simpler than wood, and they serve the same purpose, and they cost like $40 – a whole lot cheaper than a personalized closet which could cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

You can also create a closet organizer your self by using portable closet accessories. Enough with the drilling and the hammering. You can organize your closet by assembling storage boxes, shoe caddies and portable clothing racks into your closet. What’s important is that you arrange these things neatly into your closet, so it will look really organized.

If you really insist on buying a ready-made closet organizers but are a little low on the budget, then I suggest you try searching for items on sale. You can be a little friendlier to store attendants, and maybe get a little tip on when their next sale would be. You can also use the internet — search for organizers that are on sale or maybe look for someone who is selling their used organizer. Remember that the most important thing is to have a neat and tidy closet, rather than spend a lot of money on a beautiful and expensive organizer that serves the same purpose as an inexpensive one.

One of the best areas of your home to keep organized is your closet.  Closet Organizers have come a long way. It can be as simple as a small closet organizer all the way to a complete closet organizer system. There are two things you have to do before deciding which closet organizers work best for you.  The first is to figure out how much space you have and the second is to figure out which area of your closet needs the most help!  Now, don’t let this freak you out. It’s really simple.  Open your closet doors and what do you see?  A lot of clothes? Shoes? Hats? Ties? Purses? Which ever of these you have the most of that is where you start first!

Ladies, I am going to assume you have a lot of shoes and purses.   A wire closet organizer is a great solution for these items because they are durable and attractive.  You can also adjust these systems and add on to them, so as your shoes grow, so can your closet organizer.  They allow for air to circulate which helps keep purses, shoes and accessories fresh.  They can be relatively inexpensive for a few simple wire shelves, around $8-$20ea to a few hundred for a complete system.

Guys, I am assuming you have a lot of hats, ties and belts that are lying all over the place.  For this I’m going to suggest a hanging closet organizer. These are simple because they hang over your door or on the rod in your closets.  They don’t take up much room, usually have about 6 – 10 compartments and you can get skinny or wide ones where you can store all your accessories and even nicely folded sweaters and shirts.   One thing I would suggest is getting a hanging organizer with cedar inserts. Cedar helps keep moths away and it freshens up your accessories.   These can run anywhere from $10 to $30ea and only take a minute to install.  Pretty painless right? You are already on your way to getting organized.  I won’t tell anyone.
