Over time my necklace collection got quite large (and a little out of hand if you ask my husband) and so I needed a way to get everything organized. I had a nice jewelry box but the problem with that is I couldn’t see everything quickly. I’d have to rummage through all my necklaces. So I went on a hunt for a nice necklace hanger so that I could display them easily and when I woke up in the morning I could quickly pick out what I wanted to wear with my outfit.

Organizing your jewelry may not be something you think about but let me tell you, once you find the right necklace storage you’ll wonder how you did without it. I love, LOVE, being able to walk up and see everything in one glance and have them organized the way I want them. I tend to group them by colors, stones, simple and more detailed. I typically have an idea of what I’m looking for with each outfit.

Here is the necklace hanger that I did get and a few other necklace hangers that I really considered. I’ll explain why I loved the one I got and why I considered the ones I didn’t.

Woodlore 82016 Jewelry Hanger So this was is the one I purchased and I love it. Not only does it have ample necklace storage, but it’s got everything else as well.  You can: Store 30 pairs of hoop earrings, 22 pairs of post earrings, charms or broaches Additional room for 26 necklaces, 10 rings and 12 bracelets or watches This has it all!  I have it hanging in my closet where I can easily see it and if i need to take it out I can do so. I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. The price is right and I had all my jewelry organized in no time! Did I mention I love it? It’s a jewelry organizer MUST HAVE in my opinion.

Umbra Teegem Jewelry Stand I liked  this necklace hanger for it’s simplicity. It has a nice tray at the bottom where you can put your rings or earings but the only reason I didn’t get it was because I just wouldn’t fit all of my necklaces. If you need something simple and don’t have a ton of necklaces then this is a great option!

Jewelry Hanger – Black This hanger appealed to me for the same reason the Woodlore Hanger appealed to me.  You could store more than necklaces but again, this was a nice hanger but it just didn’t have enough room for what i was looking for.

BelleDangles Classic This jewelry organizer came in as a close 2nd! I love this because it hangs on your wall and not only do you have a lot of necklace storage but you have a nice little shelf on top for perfumes, candles, or other knick knacks. It even has hooks for scarfs or smaller purses! The only reason I didn’t pick this one is because I liked the convenience of the hanger in the closet but it was a tough tough choice.

Household Essentials Necklace/Bracelet Organizer This jewelry organizer is great for someone who wants something simple and low key. You can hang it on a hook at the back of a door, on a wall or in a closet.  It’s easy to access everything and you can fold it up and take it with you if you want too!

The Max Acrylic Jewelry Organizer This necklace hanger will hold up to 50 necklaces, watches or bracelets! You easily mount it to a wall in your room and you’re all set. It’s clear so it will match any decor that you have in the room! It’s a clean simple necklace organizer.

Jewelry boxes have many benefits. The obvious one is to keep your jewelry collection neatly organized so you can find the right piece when you want it. The other important benefit is to protect your jewelry collection from damage. Many pieces of jewelry can become scratched or tarnished if they are regularly jumbled together and exposed to the elements. For example, natural pearls are notorious for being scratched by other pieces and these should be stored securely and separately. Choosing a jewelry box with a nice soft interior will help to prevent these from moving around and bumping other items in your collection. Gold is another softer material that can scratch if exposed to hard stones like diamonds.

This of course leads to the next question. Once you have ample storage space for your collection, what will you fill it up with? If you have no concern of displaying your jewelry, perhaps a closet jewelry organizer would work for you. A hanging pocket type jewelry organizer and the jewelry tray organizer are the two main types of closet organizers. A hanging type is usually attached to a hanger and can be hung on a rack in between clothing or attached to the back of the closet door. The tray types are usually very inexpensive stackable trays.

Finally, for the traveler out there, there is a travel jewelry organizer. These are typically smaller organizers designed for functionality. They’re usually smaller leather bound organizers that still look great. However, if you have several expensive jewels you may opt for a jewelry roll. This will keep your jewelry out of sight and safer.

Then, a cosmetic bag saved my life. Ok, it didn’t really save my life but it saved me about 15 minutes every morning. I’m telling you cosmetic bags are one of the best inventions ever made for women.

So, the first step to organizing all your makeup is to access the damage. How much makeup do you have? Do you need a small cosmetic travel bag or something bigger? What do you have more of, eyeliners, lipsticks, eye shadows? To figure this out arrange all your makeup on a table and divide everything up into the appropriate sections. This will help you determine the size of your cosmetic bag. This will also be the perfect time to get rid of any unused or dried up makeup that is just taking up space. If you haven’t used it in the last 6 to 8 months, toss it! Not only will this give you more room and a good excuse to go buy a new replacement, but makeup can easily get bogged down with bacteria. So you want to make sure that you clean or toss any old makeup.

There are a lot of other things to consider when picking your cosmetic bag, more than just the size. You have to figure out what compartments you need. If you have a lot of brushes, eyeliners or mascara you’ll need to make sure your cosmetic bag can accommodate them. You will definitely want a separate section for your eye shadows and foundation. The goal is to get a cosmetic bag that has enough compartments and your makeup is easily visible. Most makeup bags come with a cosmetic travel bag. These are perfect because believe it or not, you don’t need to take every piece of makeup with you for a day at the office or a night on the town. Select the few essential pieces that you will need to touch up, throw it in the travel bag and you’re on your way.  If you have anything that may leak or spill or you just need to keep separate,  use a few reclosable plastic bags to keep them safe in your travel bag.

Oh and are there a lot of cute cosmetic bags out there. You can find bags that fit just about any personality. If  you like to stay organized on the go and you take your cosmetic bag with you, you should consider getting a personalized cosmetic bag so yours is easily identifiable. So common ladies, its time to organize that makeup of yours!
